| The picture used in the heading (above) is from one I took of the Battle of Britain memorial on the Victoria Embankment in London. The memorial is a recent addition to the Embankment- September 2005 - and its absolutely stunning. If you're visiting London I urge you to go and see it - it's opposite the London Eye. | ||

Welcome to my bit of the Tumbleweeds web site. In case there are any folks out there who last saw me 45 years ago, here's a current (June 2009)
picture. The beer was one of Miller's brews (lite, I think) and the picture was taken on the Mississippi river near Harper's Ferry in Iowa.
What's here ? Well, I've been spending more time with my digital camera recently. You can see the results by pointing at the Photo Albums option (above) then clicking on the required album. There's no doubt that nostalgia kicks in, in a big way, as you get older, so there's a special feature on Heywood, the town where I was born and lived until I was 19. My number one hobby when I was a lad, was Amateur Radio so there are a few ramblings about that too. Just click the picture of the G3NNW QSL card over there on the right of the page or click the Menu option.
I've been experimenting for years with different photo album software to use on the site. Some examples are expensive rubbish and some are free gems. I've collected together a few of each type and you can see them in action by going to the Album Software page on the menu. I've still to add stuff about trombones - but there is blank page waiting for it all to happen ! And I have set up a site especially for the photographs I take at Bursledon Brickworks . Finally - I'm advertising my services for web design. Check out my site .

The Met Office predicted a mild winter back in September 2009, so we had one of the coldest 2 weeks down here on the south coast of England. Basingstoke town center was grid-locked and hundreds of cars were abandoned. Two Eurostar trains broke down in the Channel Tunnel. Schools closed, shops closed, people falling and sliding on their arses all over the country. Quite an interesting time. For the first time ever we had enough snow in the backgarden to build a snowman, so here he is. He lasted about 8 days.
